A Quick Trip to Prince’s Golf Club
Friday, 06:30 AM – The car is ready to go. It’s still dark and early, but we’re off for two great days of golf in England. After a journey by car, train, and then car again, we arrive in a rainy England. Driving on the left takes some getting used to, but as we enter the grounds in Sandwich and approach the golf course, the real adventure begins.
The first course we spot is The Royal St. George’s, the legendary venue of The Open in 2021. What a sight. Just a little further lies Prince’s Golf Club, a stunning 27-hole links course. And with that, the adventure is officially underway.
After a solid burger, we tee off in the afternoon. What a course—playing in the wind under perfect conditions, with sunshine, a breeze, and crisp air. Absolutely wonderful to walk. The course plays exactly as a links should: deep bunkers, firm fairways, and fast, challenging greens. This is golf in its purest form—battling the elements. Wind, rain, tough lies, and treacherous bunkers. You need every skill in the book just to get around respectably. Absolutely thrilling.
After an incredible round, we unwind with a well-earned beer in the clubhouse. It’s so ugly that it’s beautiful in its own way. But the views? Absolutely breathtaking, like paintings come to life.
On to Day 2. Another early start to capture some great photos. Up at 6:00 AM and outside by 6:30. And what a reward for getting up early—despite maybe one beer too many. The sky is painted in stunning shades of orange, with dramatic clouds and breathtaking panoramas. I couldn’t be happier.

A Rainy but Unforgettable Round
After an incredible early morning, we teed off at 09:30. Thankfully, it was still dry—though the caddymaster warned us that wouldn’t last. And sure enough, after playing 9 holes in even stronger winds, the rain arrived. Not just a drizzle, but a downpour. After battling through 7 more holes, we decided to call it a day.
The drive home? Rain all the way to the front door.
But despite the weather—because, let’s be honest, rain is part of golf in England—it was an unforgettable experience. Stunning views, a pure links challenge, and memories to last a lifetime.
On to the next trip!
