A Golf Course Left Empty

It was the COVID era, and we weren’t allowed to do anything. No sports, no office work, no school—nothing. We were in an "intelligent lockdown." No sports also meant no golf. But taking photos? That was still allowed.

As a member of De Utrechtse Golfclub Amelisweerd, I had the privilege of capturing the golf course completely on my own. On [date], I drove to UGC Amelisweerd and parked in an empty lot. That alone was a surreal sight. But when I later found myself completely alone on the deserted golf course, a feeling of unreality crept over me.

It was so quiet. Nothing but the occasional chirping of birds. The weather was warm and beautiful. The sense of peace, space, and freedom that comes from walking alone on a golf course is astonishing. A bit surreal, but absolutely amazing.

Armed with my camera and tripod, I got to work. The sun was already setting, so I had to hurry before the light disappeared completely.

One of the most beautiful aspects of any golf course is how shadows shape the contours of the landscape. Amelisweerd was no exception. The colors deepened, and the course’s beauty became even more pronounced. Simply stunning.

Despite how incredible it was to have the entire golf course to myself, I much prefer sharing it with fellow golfers.
